Becoming a Reiki Master Teacher: When the Student is Ready the Teacher Will Appear

Janice

I don’t remember exactly when Pat started telling me my hands were hot and that I was meant to heal people with them.  I just remember that she said it a lot and I didn’t know how to process this information.  She kept telling me that if I don’t start healing people soon, not only will my hands be hot, so will the rest of me.  This information confused me.  Mostly because my hands didn’t feel hot to me.  I had no clue what she was talking about, and I just wanted to use my gifts as a psychic medium to help people.  But every time I saw her, she would remind me that I need to be using my hands to heal people.  I finally started paying attention.  One day during class I kept hearing the name of a Reiki Master Teacher, Lorraine, and how she was going to be teaching another class in the near future. Lorraine’s name had come up several times before, but this time I took notice.  I finally broke down and asked my fellow classmate for her number and started my journey to becoming a Reiki Master Teacher.

I really didn’t know anything about Reiki aside from the fact that it was a method that many energy healers and lightworkers use to aide them in healing themselves and others.  So, before I called Lorraine, I did some research and the more I learned about Reiki, the more it resonated with me.  After doing my research, I finally called Lorraine.  I explained that a few of my fellow classmates in Pat’s classes had recommended her, and that Pat kept telling me I had hot hands and I had no know idea why.  I told Lorraine that I wanted to be a student in her upcoming Reiki class.  She signed me up for both the class and a private session with her.  I was excited on both counts.

It was a lovely spring day in early April 2017 when I arrived for my Reiki session with Lorraine.  I was excited and nervous.  This was my only opportunity to experience Reiki before I started learning about the practice in-depth and how to use it to help others.  Lorraine greeted me warmly and put me at ease very quickly. She explained that just like a medium/intuitive session, every Reiki session is different and that I should have no expectations. This was a great piece of advice that I share with my own clients.  Since I’d never experienced Reiki before, it was easy to have no expectations because I had no idea what to expect!  As Lorraine worked in my energy I found myself in a deep state of relaxation and contentment.  Something about my experience resonated so deeply within me, that I knew I had made the right choice to learn this beautiful healing art.  I also knew that Lorraine was the perfect teacher for me. May 6, 2017 couldn’t come fast enough, and I was grateful Lorraine was the teacher the Universe provided.

When someone is trying to leave an abusive relationship, toxic work environment, recover from an eating disorder or a health crisis it can be overwhelming. People in these types of situations want to leave, but until something profound happens, they won’t.

Dragonflies symbolize change, transformation, adaptability, and self-realization. They also signify new beginnings.
Compassion
By Janice Tverberg March 2, 2021
Being both compassionate to oneself and to all others can be a challenge for some. While some find it easier to be compassionate to themselves, but not necessarily to others, and for others the reverse is true. When I first started learning and contemplating this precept I discovered that it was not as easy as I thought it was going to be. In fact, I had to break this precept down into two parts so that I could merge them together into one.

Gratitdue
By Janice Tverberg February 13, 2021
You might be wondering why being grateful might be challenging. A couple of reasons that come to mind are perspective and circumstance. The way one looks at their world has an influence on whether or not they feel they have anything in their life to be grateful for. For example, what I’m grateful for may not be what you’re grateful for, and what you’re grateful for might not be what your neighbor’s grateful for. However, we’re all grateful for something. Individuals trapped in an abusive situation, suffering from depression or anxiety, someone who feels oppressed might find it harder to find something to feel grateful for. Getting into and staying in the flow of gratitude is important, especially when life sucks.
Just For Today I Will Not Worry
By Janice Tverberg February 9, 2021
Did you know that worrying about tomorrow robs you of today? Of the here and now? It often takes your focus away from the people and situations that need your immediate attention thus causing you to stress and worry more. As much as you think worrying is helping you solve your problems, like how you’re going to pay the bills, what to wear on that hot date this weekend, will the children grow up to be decent human beings 20 years from now, etc., it doesn’t. It steals your peace and joy and replaces it with sadness, anxiety and depression. Worrying is the worst pastime ever!
Just For Today I Will Not Anger
By Janice Tverberg February 2, 2021
We all experience anger, sometimes it can get the better of us. Like when someone cuts us off in traffic, our kids refuse to listen, we get an upsetting email from our co-worker or boss. Any of things can turn us into screaming, seething lunatics and ruin our day – if we let it.
